Centennial Trail Service Day (May 3rd)

Scouts Clean Up Centennial Trail

Scouts from Snohomish County will participate again this year in the annual Scout Community Service Day project to clean up the Trail.

In cooperation with Snohomish County Parks and Recreation scouts and leaders will pick up, trim, wash and paint along the 17 mile public trail.

The annual Mount Baker Council, Klahaya District Scout Community Service Day project is on May 3rd. It will involve more than 400 local scouts.

Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Girl Scouts and Venturing Crews will work together on the trail’s spring cleanup project.

Projects include painting safety posts and fences, washing safety gates, picnic tables, benches, bridges, trimming overgrowth, and edging the paved trail.

The Centennial Trail, constructed on the original railroad right-a-way, connects Snohomish and Arlington and provides a popular recreational trail for walking, bicycling, hiking and horseback riding.

The park also serves as a conservation corridor protecting natural and cultural resources. Development of the trail began in 1989 during the Washington State centennial.
