Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose classes??
This catalog has over 120 classes, organized by Scouting program (Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity, and Venturing). There are even classes for youth and commissioners. A set of general studies classes are available for all. Find a topic you like from any section and sign up.
I am not sure what classes I want to take. If I register at the door will I be able to get into the classes I want?
Probably not. Many classes fill up quickly, so you may have to choose from the remaining unfilled classes. Get that registration in early! Class sizes may be limited!
What happens if I don’t get my registration post-marked by January 10th, 2009?
You will be charged the Walk-in fee at the door.
It might be a great idea to register online at http://www.mountbakerbsa.org/training.
I am an interested parent and it sounds like fun, can I attend?
YES! The University is open to all interested people. You might find that you get a lot out of just one class.
Will I receive registration confirmation?
No…we will have your class schedule ready for you at the door when you check in. Register early for the best chance to get the classes you want.
Can youth attend?
Yes, Scouts 11 – 13 can sign up and follow the Den Chief trail of classes. Youth 14 through 17 can sign up for classes, but must attend with an adult leader or parent and have parental approval.
Will there be childcare?
We offer a Child Activity Program to help make it easier for you to attend the University of Scouting. Children must be at least 4 years old and toilet trained. There is a maximum limit of 25 children in the program and all must be pre-registered. NO WALK-INS! Cost for the entire day is only $15.00 (cost includes snacks and lunch for your child).
If I cannot attend, can I get a refund?
Refunds are available for personal emergencies and are subject to a $5.00 processing fee. Please submit a letter to the Scout office no later than January 15, 2009.
When do the doors open?
The doors to the University of Scouting will open at 7:45 AM. The opening ceremony will start 45 minutes later at 8:30 AM. Don't be late!
