Cub Scout Day Camp is a great program for recruiting!
As you register new Scouts into your units (and get those future kindergartners signed up) – encourage your Scouts, both boys and girls, to attend Cub Scout Day Camp. What a great way to start their Scouting adventures by attending camp. BB guns, archery, STEM activities, nature activities, fitness, fun and more! With eight Day/Twilight Camps and an assortment of dates and locations to choose from, your Scout families are sure to find the right one. Getting new Scouts involved now and during the summer will help with establishing dens as fall approaches. You’ve heard it before: More scouts = more fun! More scouts = more parent volunteers! Announcing our 2019 Pack Challenges!
There are a lot of great things happening in Membership for 2019. All Packs are challenged to have 1 Lion Den and 1 Tiger Den, each with 7 or more Scouts. This 7UP Club will be invited to Fire Mountain for a day of fun with a fishing derby, archery and more! This event will be held in late April of 2020
The second challenge is for each Pack to add 5 or more girls (from last year’s total) to their unit. For completing this Drive for 5! Challenge all of the young ladies in the Pack will be invited to spend an afternoon and evening camping out with some our local Girl Troops! We want to celebrate the inclusion of our daughters to Scouting in the same way we have our sons for 100 years, by CAMPING! This special Girls Night Out event will be late April at Fire Mountain.
Are you ready for the challenge!
It was mentioned earlier that 2019 is going to be a great year in Membership, here is more! We will be giving away FREE handbooks and FREE superhero capes to all newly registered Scouts (when the new program year begins)! Our fall recruiting theme is: Grow Your Pack – Heroes Start Here! Use your super hero powers as leaders to come up with fall recruiting ideas that will fit the theme. We have so many creative adults volunteering in our programs, I know the ideas are going to be awesome! There is a bit of kryptonite that goes along with the free stuff.
To increase your superpowers and receive these items for your Pack, the following tasks need to be met:
- Participate in one of the “Best Practices Webinar for Spring & Fall Recruiting.”
- Register and train a New Member Coordinator.
Get your NMC registered now, it’s “super” easy and there is a set of awesome training available online.
- Commit to and hold a fall Join Night.
Focus on Cub Scouts
We start at the Pack level to grow Scouting, since:
- 93% of youth in Troops, began as a Cub Scout!
- 55% of the 2017 class of Eagle Scouts were registered as a Tiger at one time!
Mount Baker Council registered 3,481 Cub Scouts in 2018 and over 6,300 scouts for all programs! It all starts with Cub Scouts. Let’s get those Lions and Tigers and Girls into the best youth program around!
