“Our obligation is ancient, our legacy will be eternal and so we will NEVER GIVE UP!” - Motto of the Fire Eagle

Why Fire Mountain?

All of our staff are vitally important to what we do – from our Seasonal Staff and Summer Staff to our SIT’s and Commissioner Corps. You could find yourself in catering, hospitality, outdoor education, communications or management! Whatever your role is, you can be confident you’re making a positive contribution to Scouting and making a difference to the lives of young people.

Being on camp staff be it during the summer or seasonal is hard work, with long hours that will push you mentally and physically. But the leadership and family you will gain by joining the camp staff is unlike any other experience in or out of of the Scouting world.

It’s not all crab dinners and happy smiles but we play as hard as we work and when you wear the Fire Eagle you are joining a community that will include friends, family, mentors, and many new amazing memories!

Seasonal Camp Staff

While many seasonal programs are run by amazing committees and teams from across the Mount Baker Council all are supported by a small dedicated band of volunteer staff members identified but the mark of the Fire Eagle. Like the summer camp staffs since 1972 the Seasonal Staff is driven by the same mission to provide a legendary camp experience to every person who enters our gates.

Summer Camp Staff

Summer Camp Staff is one of the hardest, most challenging and rewarding roles in the Scouting program. Living on site for 6-7 weeks of training, program and clean up the staff during the summer works hard to ensure the safety of our scouts while still delivering life changing program every day.

Summer Camp Staff are paid starting at age 16 and wages are based on the staff members role and responsibilities as a member of the staff. 14 year old Staff in Training (SIT) can come for staff week and two weeks of program while 15 year old SITs can apply to be on site the entire summer.

What makes our staff special

For over fifty years Fire Mountain has been primarily a summer camp with a summer camp staff. This legacy is the foundation for many of our traditions, symbols and methods of operation.

As we move into the next fifty years toward our one hundredth anniversary Scouting needs more from Fire Mountain than summer camp. Our Cub Scout Packs, Scout BSA Troops and Venturing Crews as well as the families that make up those units need year round program, training and support. All of this and more can be found at Fire Mountain as the home of outdoor adventure and program in the Mount Baker Council.

What this means is that a patch work of committees and program groups is not enough to ensure AMAZING program to every scout who enters our gate. Because of this the Fire Eagle represents a determined group of scouts and scouters working to provide that legendary program.

Our staff NEVER GIVES UP and we NEVER SURRENDER!! Because we believe that the work we do here at Fire Mountain can help create a better world.
