Fire Mountain Scout Camp (FMSC) is located just outside of Mount Vernon, WA in the shadow of Cultus Mountain, a foothill to the North Cascades. With our own Lake Challenge at its heart, Fire Mountain is a green forest of Cedar trees and grassy fields. For 50 years Fire Mountain has been the home of Scouting’s outdoor program in the Mount Baker Council. We invite YOU to make Fire Mountain your Scouting home as well!

Fire Mountain includes all the premier camping facilities you would expect to find and then some. Featuring programs in: Aquatics (new palm-treed sandy swim beach and a complete boating program including stand-up paddle boards), COPE/Climbing (newer High COPE and 1000+ foot tandem zipline), Shooting Sports (new western-style Cowboy Action Range), Outdoor Skills, Mountain Boarding and Mountain Biking, Nature/Conservation and Crafts along with many programs focusing on the patrol method.
What is Cub Scout Adventure Day? A fun day at Fire Mountain, open to all Cub Scouts. Activities include: archery, BB guns, fishing, hiking, crafts, field sports, bouldering, and much more.
Held each fall at Fire Mountain the event lasts most of the day. Come for an hour or stay for the whole day. Scouts are invited to attend for as long as they want.
The WEBELOS-REE is a special event for 4th and 5th grade Scouts that offers the opportunity to participate in activities designed specifically for them in a Scouts BSA Camp environment. WEBELOS-REE is an organized event designed to introduce Webelos Scouts and their parents to the fun of Scouting that occurs after Webelos. The day is filled with fun activities, advancement opportunities for the Webelos rank and for Arrow of Light, also provided will be plenty of outdoor excitement.
Important Note: with changes to the Cub Scout program in 2024 this will be our last “Webelos-ree” look to see this program change in 2025 to reflect the amazing changes to Cub Scouting and the Arrow of Light 5th grade program! For 2024 this program will remain open to both 4th and 5th graders to engage them in the adventure of Scouts BSA just over the horizon.
Haunted Camp is a family Halloween event for everyone! Join other families that will venture out to Fire Mountain for a Halloween themed fun event in a safe, family-friendly environment at a cost that fits just about any budget. The Haunted Camp is packed with activities including storytelling, the haunted tower, outdoor games, the spooky hike, and more! Come as a pack, a den, or as a family. And everyone is invited, so bring your friends!
Mount Baker Council is offering a 16-hour Wilderness and Remote First Aid course that is certified by the Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI).
This course meets the wilderness first aid requirement for units trekking at national high adventure bases (Philmont, Sea Base, Northern Tier and The Summit) and for other backcountry outings.It is appropriate for Scouts and Scouters who want to become better prepared for emergencies.It also fulfills the core first aid requirement for the Venturing Ranger Award.
Merit Badge Madness is a day long Merit Badge clinic held at Fire Mountain. Scouts sign up to visit camp for the day and work on a single MB class from 9AM until about 5PM (some classes may vary on end time) with a break for lunch.
Merit Badge classes are facilitated by volunteer counselors supported logistically by volunteer seasonal camp staff. If you would be interested in signing up to teach a merit badge for the day please fill out this interest form HERE.
Located under our Janicki Shelter in the heart of camp with a view of the Anniversary Plaza, with OUR mountain in the back ground this webcam takes pictures every 10 or so minutes internet connection depending.
